The Tommy Woodcock Tapes

This 3 CD set contains over over three hours of masterful yarn-spinning from Phar Lap’s strapper, Tommy Woodcock (1905-1985) – Australia’s most loved horseman, a folk legend who as a young man was the best friend and symbiotic other half to Australia’s greatest-ever racehorse, the incomparable and iconic Phar Lap.

Interviewed by Jan ‘Yarn’ Wositzky in 1984, these are the tapes upon which the best-selling book Me & Phar: The Remarkable Life of Tommy Woodcock is based.

Edited, with linking narration and music from Jan ‘Yarn’ Wositzky, listen to Tommy as he recounts the inside story of Phar Lap, as well as his other great horse, Reckless, and the joys and tragedies of a lifetime with horses.

Here on these CDs is Tommy talking: an insiders account of the Phar Lap story, with the most up-to-date analysis of Phar Lap’s tragic death; the story of Tommy’s other big horse, Reckless in the 1970’s; and the wit and wisdom of over fifty years with horses, through the Great Depression and WW2 until the 1980’s.

Both CD and download come with a 12 page booklet.
